Caught in the Web of Axis Labour Camps
Hitlers Didder Slaves tells of the 'Benghazi Handicap' in North Africa, which resulted in the capture of some 200 Australian plus Allied troops 10 1941. The Author served with the 2/3 LAA Regiment and also became a prisoner. The Australian prisoners were rebellious and gained a reputation as troublemakers, in consequence they were cruelly ill-treated. With the German take over of the POW's the mistreatment worsened. This is the dark side of life as a POW with treatment more in line with concentration camps than the usual prison camps.
